A PROUD HISTORY SINCE 1926
From forests to finished products
Our involvement in forestry brings depth to our understanding and
knowledge of the entire timber industry - from the forest floor
to the building site, classroom and DIY project.
We are currently supplying logs for our annual stumpage sales from
the older of our two Northland forests, and are looking forward
to sustaining a capacity of 60,000 tonnes a year until at least
2020.
Our forestry workers, based at our forestry headquarters in Rangiahua,
Okaihau, carry out maintenance work, help with harvesting/replanting
and work in conjunction with specialist contractors.
Utakura Forestry
Planted between 1972 and 1986 in the Hokianga, this 1400-hectare
radiata pine forestry area has been harvested, and replanted, since
2001. The forest, located north-east of the Mangamuka Bridge on
the upper reaches of the Hokianga Harbour in New Zealand's Far North
district, was bought and planted in conjunction with The Utakura
7 Incorporation under a peppercorn rental agreement.
Omahuta Forestry
You will find our Omahuta forest estate 12 kilometres up the Otangaroa
Road from State Highway 1, at the base of the Mangamuka Ranges.
Our radiata pine forest covers approximately 1000 hectares and
was planted between 1978 and 1999. It is wholly owned by White Cliff's
subsidiary, Mamaku Sawmilling Co Ltd.
